Congratulations you sold your home!  Now you have been looking at Michigan homes for sale and you have found your home of your dreams.  Whether you purchased Livonia real estate, Plymouth real estate, or any Metro Detroit home you may forget about little things when moving.  Here is a short list of Moving tips.  This will help you make sure you don't forget anything you should be doing, and help make your move a lot easier.

  1. You can pick up a forwarding address kit at the post office.  Give your forwarding address to the post office, usually two to four weeks ahead of the move.
  2. Notify your brokerage accounts, mutual fund companies, credit card companies, magazine subscriptions, work, and bank of the change of address a week a head.
  3. Send out a moving announcement to friends, family, or other important people in your life.  Include your new address and phone number.
  4. Arrange to have utilities disconnected at your old home on your move out date and connected at your new one on the move in date.
  5. Cancel the your INTERNET service, cable tv, and the newspaper.
  6. Check insurance coverage for moved items. Usually movers only cover what they pack.
  7. Start using up food in your refrigerator and freezer.  No sense packing food.  Eat it up in the month a head of time.
  8. Note the weight of the goods you'll have moved, since long-distance moves are usually billed according to weight. Watch for movers that use excessive padding to add weight.
  9. Pack your valuables, or can't live without fragile items and take them with you instead of having the movers move them. .
  10. Have a "must take with us" box with the things you'll need most-toilet paper, soap, trash bags, scissors, hammer, screwdriver, pencils and paper, cups and plates, water, snacks, and toothpaste.

I hope these tips help you when you relocate to Michigan.  Whether it is Wayne County Real Estate, Oakland County Real estate, or any Detroit area home I want your move to be easier whether you used me as a your Realtor or your Mortgage person or not.  May your new home bring you lots of great memories.
