How to choose a home
Now you are armed with your wish list. You know roughly what you want in a home and what you must have and what you would like to have. You have your comparison chart printed off. Now is the time to call Russ Ravary on my cell at (313) 310-9855 or email me to send you listings by email. You can open them up at your leisure and browse them whenever it is convenient to you. Then all you have to do is call me and I will set up the homes to get inside and look at them.
KEEPING TRACK OF ALL THE HOMES!
Name the homes, for example the "waterfall house" or the big bathroom house". Keep notes on the comparison chart or the listing ticket. If possible, take photographs of the homes you like. The outside, the major rooms, the yard, and extra features that you like or ones you see as potential problems. And don't hesitate to ask me to set up a second showing. That's what I'm here for.
HOW MANY HOMES SHOULD I CONSIDER BEFORE CHOOSING ONE?
There isn't a set number of houses you should see before you decide. I have had people look at 60 homes and I have had people look at only three. Visit as many times as it takes to find the one you want. On average, home buyers see 15 houses before choosing one. Before you start shopping for a home, you need to know what kind of home to shop for. Whether you want a Livonia home, Redford home, Brighton home, Commerce Township home, or a Novi home we can help narrow down your choices. Once you have figured out what kind of home are looking for, the next thing to do is to search for the best possible deal. Although this is the toughest part of the whole home buying process, doing your homework certainly does help. There are two ways of doing this. Searching on your own or by hiring a local Wayne County real estate / Oakland county real estate agent and letting them do the hard work for you! Leverage their experience!

WEIGH OUT YOUR LIKES AND DISLIKES ON THE HOMES.
Use that comparison chart. Which home has more features that you like? Compare the costs, the taxes. Compare the condition of the homes. How much will you have to put into one as compared to the other. Can you live in the home without doing anything? Can you live with it the way it is until you have the money to fix it up? Remember there is no perfect house especially if it is older. There will be repairs of some sort to do usually. The key in making a good decision is getting as many of the features you want for a good price. Again, many times you can not get all the features you want and you might have to compromise with your significant other to get as close as you can to the home of your dreams.
