Redford Township, Michigan
A little bit about
Redford is a western suburb of Detroit, Michigan that is 11.25 square miles.  Redford has 51,622 citizens. The zip codes are 48239 and 48240.  The upper Rouge River flows

The CSX Railroad parallels the I-96 Freeway. Most of the major commercial development is found along Telegraph Road, a series of major mile roads, both east-west and north-south, complimenting the Telegraph Road and I-96 corridors which connect to the region.

Location

Redford History
Nineteen year-old Israel Bell and his 15 year-old wife first settled the Redford area in 1818. Named because of its location at the place where the Indians and early settlers could cross the "rouge" or "red" river. The Rouge River got its name because of its reddish water and its red clay banks, which are remnants of a prehistoric lake whose bottom was red clay.

The Redford Theatre opened on January 27, 1928 as a neighborhood movie house. It was billed as "America's Most Unique Suburban Playhouse." The theatre, with its three story grand foyer and full-size stage, has been in continuous operation ever since.
